A BISLEY couple pleaded not guilty in court on Remembrance Day (Tuesday) to charges of stealing poppy collections.

James Pretty , 44, and and Karin Latham, 58, of Arethusa Way, appeared at South West Surrey Magistrates’ Court charged with theft of Royal British Legion boxes from a Sainsbury’s in Bisley on November 3 and a Co-op store in Chobham on November 5.

Pretty was also charged with the theft of a poppy box from a Morrison’s supermarket in Frimley Green on November 5.

Pretty has been remanded in custody and is due to appear via video link at North Surrey Magistrates’ Court in Staines on November 18.

Latham was given conditional bail and is due to appear for trial at Guildford Magistrates’ Court on January 5.
