Two people charged in connection with Woking murder investigation

A CROYDON resident has been charged with murder in connection with the death of a man in Woking.

Jermaine Lee, 31, was charged on Sunday after Sheerwater’s Khalilur Rahman died from a head injury inflicted at the Woking Hotel in Chertsey Road on Wednesday last week (August 26).

Lisa Jane Warner, 34 and of no fixed abode, was simultaneously charged with assisting an offender, and both will appear at North Surrey Magistrates’ Court on Monday.

Two others arrested by Surrey Police have been released with no further action being taken against them.

Officers were called to the town centre hotel at around 10.30am on Wednesday after the discovery of Mr Rahman’s body: it is believed he was working as a security guard for the hotel.

Cordons were placed at the nearby O’Neill’s pub and the Big Apple entertainment complex before a forensic team arrived at the scene at 2pm.

Speaking last week, Senior Investigating Officer Detective Chief Inspector, Karen Mizzi, said: “This is a tragic incident where a man has lost his life and our thoughts are with his family and friends at this very difficult time.

“We are in the very early stages of the investigation but I am extremely keen to speak to anyone who was in the vicinity of Chertsey Road in the early hours of Wednesday morning who may have seen or heard anything out of the ordinary.

“I appreciate that this incident will have been extremely concerning for local people and we are working closely with our Woking Safer Neighbourhood Team colleagues to keep residents and local businesses informed.”

Anyone with information that might help the investigation is asked to contact Surrey Police on 101, quoting Operation Orca.
