A HOST of tribute acts are heading to Woking’s New Victoria Theatre, so whether your choice is Roy Orbison, ABBA or soul legends of the ’60s and ’70s, there’s something for you.
Barry Steele will present his tribute to The Big O with Roy Orbison and Friends on Thursday, October 8, featuring classic hits from the ’60s through to the late ’80s when Orbison joined The Travelling Wilburys.
Using both original and film footage from the era, and backed by his band, Steele brings the life and character of Orbison back to stage, joined by Paul Molloy as Elvis Presley and Boogie Williams as Jerry Lee Lewis.
The music of Swedish pop icons will be brought back to life when ABBA Mania comes to the New Vic on Friday, October 9. Expect all the old favourites like Mamma Mia, Voulez Vous, Dancing Queen, Winner Takes It All, Super Trouper and more.
Direct from the USA, Soul Legends on Wednesday, October 14 will feature an original star, Jaki Graham, who will dip into her collection of soul hits, including Could it be I’m Falling in Love, Ain’t Nobody and Set Me Free.
She’ll be joined by a cast of singers and musicians who will bring to life hits by Aretha Franklin, James Brown, Michael Jackson, Tina Turner, Lionel Richie, Barry White, Wilson Pickett, Earth Wind & Fire, George Benson, Sam & Dave, Eddie Floyd, The Emotions, Kool & the Gang, Chaka Khan and Edwin Starr in ‘soulsational’ style.
Expect to hear Respect, Soul Man, Ain’t Nobody, Knock On Wood, Midnight Hour, Sex Machine, Proud Mary, You’re My First My Last My Everything, Best Of My Love, River Deep Mountain High, Ain’t No Stopping Us Now, Beat It, Three Times a Lady, Get Down on It, I Feel Good and more.
In addition, the theatre will host the Rat Pack Vegas Spectacular Show on Saturday, October 10; The Sensational ’60s Experience (October 15) and Back To Bacharach (October 16).
