EVERYONE was a winner on Saturday as the sun beamed down on the hundreds who turned up to Byfleet Recreation Ground for the annual Parish Show.
The village’s Royal Family – seven-year-old Queen Leila Watson, King Dylan Unger, nine, Princess Brooke Madden and Prince Lennon Collins, both five – arrived in suitably supreme style by horse-drawn carriage along with the Mayor and Mayoress of Woking, Derek and Rosemary McCrum.
Councillor McCrum kicked off the event with special guest speaker, the much-loved TV celebrity actor, comedian and singer Bernard Cribbins OBE, who came to support the show with his wife Gillian. Woking MP Jonathan Lord was also at the event.
There were plenty of stalls, activities and competitions throughout the day, with entertainment put on from popular local band the fabulous Funatics, the Rock Choir and Jive Pony – the female equestrian display team.
Queen Leila handed out prizes to the poster competition winners, while Mr Lord helped pick out the winner in the ‘Name the Dragon’ contest at the Byfleet Community Library stand.
There were vintage vehicles, horticultural and dog competitions, children’s races, refreshments and sides shows, finishing with a free-entry music festival for all in the evening.
