Surrey here to guide way

MORE than 500 extra Surrey families will get help to transform their lives after the Government rewarded the county for being among the best at supporting those most in need.

The Government have announced plans to give more money to the top-performing councils working with vulnerable families, including Surrey, whose programme has already helped 420 families in the county turn their lives around.

Surrey County Council’s Cabinet Associate for Children, Schools and Learning, Clare Curran, said: “We’re doing all we can to give vulnerable families in Surrey a brighter future.

“Surrey’s Family Support programme is all about transforming lives blighted by crime, domestic abuse or unemployment, but the work will benefit all taxpayers in the county by reducing these families’ reliance on public services in the future.”
