THE Blues Band got together back in 1979 to earn some beer money.
Some 35 years on, not only are they still going but the line-up continues to feature a wealth of musical talent.
Former singer with Manfred Mann, Paul Jones, put the band together – and he’s still there along with guitarist Tom McGuinness, slide guitar ace and vocalist Dave Kelly, drummer Rob Townsend, and bass player Gary Fletcher.
The band have a new studio album, Few Short Lines, which uses the talents of Bob Dylan’s keyboard accomplice Al Kooper and Southside Johnny providing harmonica and vocals – plus Jones duets with Linda Lewis, while Kelly performs with Scotland’s soul queen, Maggie Bell.
On tour to plug the album, The Blues Band will be at Camberley Theatre on September 18.
