Paedophile guilty of multiple sex offences

A PREACHER from Goldsworth Park was remanded in custody on Friday after being found guilty of multiple non-recent sex offences against two victims aged between nine and 16.

78-year-old Allan Cundick, of Merrivale Gardens, guilty of six counts of indecent assault against two girls between 1970 and 1992, contrary to Section 14 of the 1956 Sexual Offences Act.

The court also heard that Cundick admitted to two further counts of indecent assault against another two women – one aged between 46 and 47, and a second aged 21 – between 1994 and 2004.

Cundick was found not guilty of three other counts of indecent assault, and is due to be sentenced on January 15, 2015.

Detective Chief Inspector Bex Smith, of the Police Public Protection Investigation Unit, said: “This was a difficult case for all concerned and the victims are to be commended for their tenacity and bravery in helping bring Cundick to justice.

“I would encourage anyone who might have any concerns about sexual abuse, whether current or historic, to contact us.”
