A HUNDRED horses and riders left LGB Equestrian to take part in ‘Surrey Ride 4 Life’ in aid of Cancer Research.
The popular event was jointly organised by the Chobham livery and Surrey Horse & Pony, a Facebook group for everyone and everything ‘horsey’.
The LGB stables, which provides riding for all ages and abilities, including those with special needs and runs holiday activities, is based at Higher Park Farm, Halebourne Lane, and was a awash in a sea of pink riders and horses, with small groups leaving the yard at regular intervals.
Every rider received a rosette, kindly sponsored by Winchfield Court Farm.
A spokesman said: “Considering the small committee behind the event had never organised a sponsored ride before, the day ran as smooth as clockwork.
We had a small team of volunteer marshals posted at the crossings who did a wonderful job ensuring that all road users remained safe.
A last minute appeal on Facebook brought in some extra volunteers to sell raffle tickets and the wonderful joint effort by everyone has, to date, raised more than £8,500 for Cancer Research.”
Anyone wishing to make a donation to charity can still do so – all details are online at www.lgbequestrian.com.
