THE Brazilian Community School (ABCD Escolinha de Português) will be hosting a traditional barn party for the wider community at Westfield Cricket Club – Greenmeads, Woking, GU22 9QJ – on Sunday (18 June)

It promises a great afternoon celebrating Brazilian culture in Woking, with traditional live music, delicious Brazilian food, barbecues, dance presentations, and fun for the whole family.

The school is a supplementary Brazilian school that offers Brazilian/Portuguese language lessons and culture for children between two and 11 years old.

Lessons are on Saturday mornings from 10am to 12pm and nearly 60 children attend the school in classes at Hoe Bridge School, Old Woking Road.

This is the 7th Festa Junina (June Festival) and important to the Brazilian community in preserving and nurturing language and roots, and essential maintaining its cultural heritage.

Proceeds, after covering the costs of running the event, go towards the school buying some Brazilian books for its library and materials for the new school year.

This is the first time the event has been hosted at Westfield Cricket Club. Tickets cost £6 with a group ticket (four people) £20.
