WOKING & Sam Beare Hospices have just signed up their 500th entrant for this year’s Midnight Walk.
The march in the moonlight takes place on Friday, June 20 and is an eight-mile circuit around Brooklands, New Haw and West Byfleet.
Each year women of all ages come together in memory of friends and loved ones. Others just want to take on a challenge, but every entrant shares a common interest in supporting the vital charities.
Many schools have registered and once again West Byfleet Junior and Infant School have excelled, with organiser Gill Davis thrilled to have 80 ladies signed up and raring to go.
She said: “It’s a fantastic team spirit that is achieved when we all get together, we’ve enjoyed training walks, fundraising events at the school, and the local pubs are allowing us to do a bucket collection before the event. The camaraderie on the night certainly means that the distance is suitable for everyone.”
The Midnight Walk has raised £850,000 since it started seven years ago. The fun starts at Mercedes-Benz World at 10pm with most people are still walking at midnight.
Registration costs £15 and can be completed online at www.wsbhospices.co.uk/events or by calling the fundraising team on 01483 881752.
