TRAIN DEATH – Woking railway station this morning

RAIL services through Woking were disrupted for around 60 minutes after a man was hit by a train at the town’s station.

British Transport Police and paramedics attended the scene at about 10am today (October 1) after the man was struck by the 9.39am South West Trains London Waterloo to Poole train.

A BTP spokesman said the man was pronounced dead at the scene and his next of kin were being contacted.

Surrey Police officers also attended the incident alongside paramedics from South East Coast Ambulance Service.

An official statement from BTP said: “I can confirm that BTP officers attended Woking rail station on Monday, 1 October following a report of a man being hit by a train.

“Inquiries are ongoing to establish the identity of the man and inform his family.

“The train involved was the 9.39am London Waterloo to Woking service.”

The statement added that the incident is currently being treated as “non-suspicious.”
