WOKING MP, Jonathan Lord, officially unveiled six new ensuite bedrooms at the popular Crown & Anchor pub in the town centre recently, following the completion of the final phase of a £675,000 refurbishment.
The High Street venue reopened on 11 August after national pub company Punch transformed it into a vibrant community facility, creating 10 new jobs. The premises had been completely redecorated and given a new layout to improve the overall customer experience. The bar, kitchen and ladies’ toilets were relocated, new booth seating areas were installed and the dining area increased in size.
Mr Lord was joined by customers to take a look around the rooms and enjoy complementary refreshments. Publican Melissa Guy said: “We’ve had a fantastic response to the new-look Crown & Anchor, and opening the new bedrooms is the icing on the cake for us. We have five rooms that can be offered as double or twin occupancy and one family room suitable for two adults and two children. “We envisage the rooms being used primarily by business customers attending events and meetings in the area, while the family room naturally lends itself to people on holiday or visiting friends and family.
“All the rooms are priced at £60 and have been completely gutted and decorated in a contemporary style with a neutral colour scheme. Each has a TV, ensuite shower room (ensuite bathroom in the family room), tea and coffee making facilities and complementary Wifi.”
Mr Lord added: “The letting rooms at the Crown & Anchor are a great addition to the pub’s facilities and I was delighted to be invited to open them and take a look around. The rooms are welcoming and look very comfortable. I’m confident that Melissa will have no problem generating bookings once people hear about them. I wish everyone at the venue all the best for the future.”
Samantha Tobin, area operations manager for Punch, said: “The Crown & Anchor pub is a large, attractive building and ideally located near the A3 to attract custom from business people looking for overnight accommodation, as well as locals looking for a relaxed night out with friends and family.
