WOKING Park will be alive with the sound of music when the newly refurbished Bandstand opens in its permanent new home behind Pool in the Park on Saturday.

Woking Mayor Tony Branagan and the Mayoress will formally open the borough’s longstanding open-air musical venue at 1.30pm, followed by a celebratory two-hour performance from the Friary Guildford Brass Band.

Visitors will be able to enjoy the performance from the comfort of Celebrate Woking deckchairs.

Speaking about the opening, Mayor Branagan said: “The completely refurbished Bandstand was relocated from the town centre to Woking Park as part of the proposed Victoria Square development.

“The Mayoress and I are delighted to be invited to reopen one of Woking’s timeless attractions for future generations to enjoy. It will continue to be used by local bands throughout the year for events in the park and over each summer for the annual Summer Sounds programme.”
