LISTEN closely, and cries of ‘Fresh fruit and veg’ can now be heard in Knaphill.
That is because a new market, complete with everything needed to trim a roast dinner or whip up a salad, has been launched in Anchor Crescent.
Jim Ahmed, who runs the Knaphill Store opposite, said the team behind the new market have been pushing for its creation for a long time. He said: “It has taken a lot of effort to get this market off the ground and now we need the Knaphill community to show their support.
“The market stocks the freshest fruit and veg, and represents another step forward for the local community – it is an asset to be used and one that many other villages would love to see back in use.”
The consensus among villagers is that independent retailers in Knaphill have upped their game following the arrival of Tesco in High Street. Jim added: “Since the opening of the new store everyone has taken it upon themselves to offer that little bit more, and the residents have responded.
“The market is the latest addition to the village scene and we are happy to be adding a dash of colour to Anchor Crescent.
“Knaphill village is showing that it is a place to be in its own right.”
The market is open every Saturday from 9am until midday.
