PIRBRIGHT villagers have been invited to send their scarecrows to a live audition in London.
No doubt it will be scary coming up against the nation’s best field watchers when Scarecrow Festival entries from across the land are put through their paces by celebrity judge and ex-Emmerdale star Sheree Murphy.
But a starring role in the popular ITV soap’s bumpers is on offer for the top model.
After auditions at the Arts Theatre in the heart of London’s West End on September 30, not only will the winning scarecrow have gained the part as an extra in the next series of the Emmerdale soap idents, they will also have clinched £5,000 towards their village’s next scarecrow festival.
Sponsors McCain are on their first nationwide hunt of its kind. The lucky winner will appear as an extra in the next series of Emmerdale sponsorship bumpers alongside McCain favourites ‘Spade Head’ and ‘Bucket Boy’.
Pirbright Scarecrow Festival organiser, Nicola Barker, said: “We’re delighted to audition for the role. We know we have star quality and we are sure we will be able to bring home the trophy.”
