Free lunch raises thousands for Nepal disaster appeal

WEST Byfleet’s New Haweli restaurant  did its bit to help Nepal recover from the devastation dealt by recent earthquakes.

Last Bank Holiday Monday, the gurus of Asian cuisine organised a charity lunch to which everyone was invited to eat and drink for free – although they were asked to make charitable donations. Nobody is more suited than Sunil Khadka, the event’s host and the owner of the New Haweli, to tell us the outcome. He says: “I want to give a very big ‘thank you’ to all who came to our Nepal Earthquake Disaster fundraiser, as their generosity means we have raised £4,536.41.”
And that’s a truly remarkable result, particularly for an event lasting only four hours.
