WWF-UK welcomed Team Panda’s newest recruits to the Living Planet Centre for a training and pasta party over the weekend.
During the day, more than 20 new Team Panda members from Surrey and further afield had the opportunity to meet fellow marathon runners and compare stories of ‘What the panda made them do’.
The new faces also received expert fitness advice and a training session from the Synergy Running and Movement Centre in Woking before tucking into a carb-loading pasta lunch.
Cathy Morrow, who is running the Surrey Half Marathon for Team Panda on March 8, said: “When I read the itinerary for the training day, I was so excited. It was really useful to spend time with the trainer who explained how to optimise our running technique, and it was great to speak to the other runners about their experiences.
“I’d already talked to a lot them on the Team Panda Facebook group, so it was great to finally meet them in person.”
Charlotte Bagg, Events Manager at WWF-UK added: “We’re incredibly proud of all our Team Panda members. It’s great to see so many of them getting fit, having fun and helping to create a world in which people and nature live in harmony. We wish them all the best of luck with their marathon challenge.”
WWF’s Team Panda super-supporters are a dedicated, energetic and passionate community who care about protecting the planet. In 2014 they collectively ran, cycled and swam more miles than ever before. By committing their time and effort into training and fundraising they raised nearly £500,000 to support WWF’s work.
