Cruel attack on vulnerable man investigated by Surrey Police

A VULNERABLE man was slapped, spat at and robbed in a shocking assault in Woking town centre.

Surrey Police officers are appealing for witnesses to the appalling scenes which unfolded in Peacocks Shopping Centre on 11 January.

It is reported that the victim, who is in his 20s, was approached by two men in Poundworld between late morning and midday as he shopped.

He was slapped to the forehead before having his wallet taken and being spat at.

The wallet – a Newcastle Football Club product – contained a small amount of cash and a bus pass.

It is believed that the suspects had spoken to the victim in the shopping centre prior to the robbery taking place.

Detective Constable Neil Winter from West Surrey CID said: “This was a cruel and upsetting crime committed against a vulnerable young man.

“If you were in the vicinity of Peacocks Shopping Centre and witnessed anything that happened before, during or after the offence then please get in touch.

“You might have a snippet of detail that could help us locate the offenders and bring them to justice.”
