EWBANK’S is preparing for its three-day summer “Silver, Antiques and Fine Art” sale from 20-22 June, and already has many intriguing pieces of silver consigned.
Silver is one of the biggest sections of Ewbank’s quarterly sales and offers the opportunity for collectors of all budgets to snap up a piece of antique or modern silver.
One of the more expensive pieces already catalogued for sale is an Edward VII canteen of silver cutlery for twelve, which carries an estimate of between £1,200 and £1,800. The set comprises dinner forks, tablespoons, dessert forks, dessert spoons, ten teaspoons, six soup spoons and two sauce ladles. It was made by Walker & Hall, Sheffield, in 1908/9. The gross silver weight of the set is 124oz or 3856g.
