CHOBHAM rugby club fans enjoyed a day of mixed fortunes last Saturday with a narrow defeat for the 1st XV and a thumping victory for the second team.
The day was also an emotional farewell to retiring cleaners Elaine and Steve Williams after nearly 20 years.
Club president Nigel Heslop, who presented Elaine with an engraved vase said she had been a loyal servant to the club.
“Elaine and Steve have been quite remarkable. We have quite a high usage and players tend to get rather grubby having rolled in the mud. It is remarkable to see, after a day of games on Saturday, how they come in and the next day the place is pristine,” Nigel said.
