THE Croydon Cat Killer is believed to have struck in West Byfleet, leading to a plea for people to keep their pets in at night.
The discovery in the village of a cat with its head and tail removed has been linked to a series of animal mutilations across the country over the last four years.
Police are investigation the death in West Byfleet, which happened on Tuesday last week.
The dead pet was taken by a member of the public to the Medivet surgery in the village.
Vets there issued a warning to its clients saying: “We are devastated to say that we have had a case of the so-called Croydon Cat Killer in the area.
