BYFLEET was buzzing over the weekend as the biggest day in the village’s calendar made a welcome return.
A feast of stalls and games pulled the punters up from their sun loungers and into the heart of the Parish Day action.
Among those attending was Emily Lock and her dog Roy (right), with Morris Men, ballet schools, members of the Byfleet Players, plus a parade adding colour to the day’s festivities.
Of course, taking centre stage were the Parish Day royal family, consisting of Queen Jess Balchin, Prince Warren Buijdoso, Princess Stacey Atkins and King Conor Brodrick. Byfleet ward Councillor Anne Roberts said: “The day was bigger and better than ever, and thanks to the weather the crowd thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
“We were a bit concerned that rain may break out right in the middle of the day but the weather held and a massive thanks must go to the organisers who put on such a good show.” And Byfleeters will not have to wait long for their next community fun day, with a fancy dress parade and a ‘bring and share’ picnic planned to mark the upcoming RideLondon races.
A precession will leave the Blue Anchor pub at 11.30am on August 10, and will weave its way to Plough Green where church ministers will lead a songs of praise concert.
