A WOKING resident battling back from the effects of leukaemia will mark a year of fundraising with one last hurrah.
Trevor Jones, who is hoping to bring his donation total to more than £20,000, is set to host a grand finale event at Chobham Golf Club on May 3.
The evening celebration is being organised with the support of friends and family, who have been involved with his TJ Fundraising Campaign to Beat Leukaemia since it was launched in 2013.
All funds raised through the campaign will go to King’s College Hospital’s haematology charity, the Lions International Blood Research Appeal.
It was at King’s that Trevor received life-saving treatment for acute myeloid leukaemia.
The celebrations will begin at 7pm and include a two-course buffet, live auction, raffle and dance. Special guests from LIBRA and King’s will attend the event, which is set to attract around 100 guests.
The TJ Fundraising Campaign team have already raised more than £13,000 and hope that the bash will push that figure up to £20,000.
Trevor said: “I am really looking forward to the fundraiser as it will be a real celebration of all that we have achieved over the last 12 months.
“It is a great opportunity for people, charity representatives and King’s staff to come together and enjoy some great entertainment for a very worthy cause.
“The haematology team at King’s provided me with lifesaving treatment after I was diagnosed with blood cancer in 2012 and I decided to raise vital funds for their department through LIBRA.
“My aim from the start has been to raise as much as possible for the team so that they can develop new and improved treatments for other leukaemia patients.
“It’s a cruel blood cancer and that’s why it’s so important that the best treatments are available to patients.”
Tickets for the event cost £35 per person. To book your place call the TJ Fundraising team on 07929 019011 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
