THE News & Mail of 17 May published details of the new Town Quay bus stop in Victoria Way, Woking. It was stated that it is located by the Bedser Bridge, but there is no indication anywhere as to why this bridge is so named.
Agreed there are two statues, located on each side, of the famous cricketing twins Alec and Eric Bedser, but it is not readily apparent just who they are. The relevant details are in black and virtually invisible to the casual passer-by.
Surely, considering the vast sums of money being committed to the redevelopment of Woking, such an oversight could be rectified at little cost.
Also, in any case, I suppose only people of a certain age would know of these Woking celebrities.
