THE Royal Opera House’s Live Cinema Season 2018-19, being shown at the Ambassadors in Woking, will showcase a wide variety of ballet and opera, including three new works, all relayed live from Covent Garden.
The season will feature the The Nutcracker and opera stars including Michael Fabiano, Jonas Kaufmann, Anna Netrebko and Eva-Maria Westbroek.
The Royal Ballet will kick off the Live Cinema Season with Kenneth MacMillan’s Mayerling (15 October), followed by the romantic classical ballet La Bayadère (13 November).
The Nutcracker (3 December) captures the magic of Christmas and this will be followed by Carlos Acosta’s staging of Don Quixote (19 February 2019).
A mixed programme on 16 May 2019 will include Within the Golden Hour choreographed by Christopher Wheeldon and Flight Pattern choreographed by Crystal Pite. Kenneth MacMillan’s great Shakespearean classic, Romeo and Juliet will be shown on 11 June 2019.
Five productions from The Royal Opera will be broadcast live to cinemas, inlcuding Wagner’s Die Walküre on 28 October this year, Tchaikovsky’s The Queen of Spades on 22 January 2019 and Verdi’s La traviata on 30 January 2019.
