DETAILS of road closures to be implemented during the forthcoming RideLondon-Surrey races have been announced.
Four villages will be impacted by the Prudential-sponsored events, with the 100-mile and Classic editions of the hugely popular cycling challenge set to cut through the borough once again.
Roads in Byfleet, Pyrford, Ripley and West Byfleet will be closed from 5am on race day – Sunday 31 July – and are set to re-open just after noon, once the amateurs competing in the ‘100’ race have streamed past.
Rolling closures will then be in place from around 1.30pm to 3pm as the professionals put the pedal to the metal in the Classic race. There are lots of great places to watch the cycling and enjoy the festive atmosphere around the route, with two major events right here in the borough.
Celebrate Pyrford: For a fun family day of sports events, live music and big screens to watch the cycling action, head to Pyrford Cricket Club Ground, (Coldharbour Road, Pyrford GU22 8ST). Visit www.celebratepyrford.moonfruit.com for more information.
West Byfleet LI:VE: West Byfleet Recreation Ground once again hosts West Byfleet LI:VE. The event will host a big screen and fun fair plus food stalls and children’s games as well as a front row view of the amateur and professional cyclists.
